About Me
MY MISSION
I have always considered it my mission to be dedicated and responsive to the proposition that all men are created equal and have great value. I believe that understanding this equality and great value empowers people to succeed, economically, spiritually, physically and emotionally.
I am dedicated to helping lift Juab and Sanpete Counties to greater economic independence, open access to our public lands and protecting our private lands.
MY PLACES OF SERVICE
I currently serve as a Sanpete County Commissioner. I have served on the Inter Generational Poverty Council, the Fair Board, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Utah Association of Counties. I serve on the Energy, Environmental and Public Lands Committee for the National Association of Counties, I am an attendee to the Coal to Products Council as directed by the Office of Fossil Fuels within the DOE.
I taught at Manti High School
I served as the softball Coach for the Manti High School Softball Team.
I have served in various positions within my church.
ABOUT ME
I was born in Mt Pleasant, Utah and raised in Manti. I am the youngest of three children born to Dale and Janet Lund. I graduated from Manti High School, served in the 2nd of the 222 Field Artillery Unit of the Utah National Guard and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I married Melissa Peterson from Mayfield. We earned a bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. We have lived in Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Utah. We have three married children and five grandchildren.
I am deeply concerned about the direction our Country is going. I wonder how many people understand the greatness of the United States of America. I worked in South Africa for a few months. While there I became acquainted with one of the founders of the New South African Government, under President Mandela. This gentleman said “Steve, you live in the greatest country ever in the history of the world. That is why we used the Constitution of the United States of America as a pattern for our own. We hope we are going in the right direction”.
I have a great love for the United States of America. I believe we owe it to our posterity to make sure THE GREATEST COUNTRY EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD, is always a land of liberty and justice, is always a place of opportunity and always a place where God comes before country.
MY GOALS
The next few years are going to be exciting and disruptive. We need to be prepared to work not only as cities within a county, but as counties within Utah. The RURAL VOICE on Capitol Hill will be getting smaller after the 2020 census is completed. The conservative values we all cherish and live by are waning in some of the more densely populated areas of Utah.
Juab and Sanpete Counties are on the cusp of an economic uplift. Families, Individuals and businesses are looking for places to go, outside of the Urban areas. Lets be prepared to appropriately receive them.
